About Us

Virtu is a local independent boutique in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago. Truly family owned and operated, we are coming up on our 24th year in business, in January 2024. Why shop with a big jungle of a behemoth, when you can go down the street and find everything you didn't know you were looking for right here in your very own community?
Your friendly local neighborhood Virtu has lived by this shop small mantra since the day we opened our doors. We hope you will take the time to join us in finding out what makes our shop unique and lovely, just like the gifts and services we have to offer.
We believe in making people smile.
We believe in lifting one another up.
We believe in women.
We believe in fine, slow, hand crafted wares.
We believe in giving good gifts.
We believe in community over competition.
We believe in telling the story.
We believe in color.
We believe in maximalism.
We believe in one of a kind.
We believe in making your own statement.
We believe in doing it anyway.
We believe in using your voice.
We believe in equality.
We believe in justice.
We believe in peace.
We believe in sparkles.
We believe in personalized service.
We believe in gifts for a random Tuesday.
We believe in treating yourself.
We believe in beauty from within.
We believe in the written word.
And we believe good things come in small packages, especially those from Virtu.
Here's Virtu's secret: actively curated, high-quality merchandise, so there's always something new and interesting in the store, seemingly no matter how often you visit. Warm, helpful service from an owner who works hard, remembers your name and your circumstances, and who seems to be enjoying herself. An active engagement with the neighborhood and the people who live in it, and a cute dog and cute kid who are often around, adding another layer of warmth to the store.
It's just that simple.  - Scott
